Athletics are essential in student life at Cheyenne-Eagle Butte. They promote personal growth, teamwork, and school spirit. Through sports, students develop skills beyond the playing field, preparing them to be leaders in their community and ambassadors of the Lakota way of life.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte is a proud South Dakota High School Activities Association member and adheres to the guidelines set by the National Federation of State High School Associations and SDHSAA. Our athletic programs offer students opportunities to build strong bodies, develop leadership skills, and participate in healthy competition while demonstrating sportsmanship and mutual respect.

The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Athletic Department is committed to creating a positive environment that promotes excellence in athletics, academics, culture and personal development. Participation in sports teaches valuable life lessons such as collaboration, discipline, resilience and leadership. Participation Requirements
To participate in athletics, students must complete a yearly physical examination conducted by a licensed medical doctor or physician assistant. The completed physical form must be submitted to the athletic director before participating in any sport.
In addition, families must complete a packet of required forms, which includes:
- Sports Concussion Form
- Parental Consent Form
- Annual Sports Physical Forms
These documents ensure student safety and compliance with school and state guidelines and are required before participation.
