The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte District School Board is committed to ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education. The Board establishes district policy, approves the annual budget and oversees the district's operations. It also works closely with the superintendent, who implements board policies and manages daily school operations.

What the School Board Does

The School Board:

  • Sets goals and policies for the district.
  • Hires and supports the superintendent.
  • Approves the school district’s annual budget.
  • Adopts curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Monitors student achievement and school performance.
  • Communicates with the public and responds to community needs.

Board members serve the community by making decisions that guide long-term planning and support student achievement.

Meetings and Public Participation

Unless otherwise noted, regular board meetings are held on the second Monday of each month. These meetings are open to the public, and community members are welcome to attend, observe and speak during the public comment portion of the agenda.

Special meetings may be called when needed. Board members, the superintendent and the public are provided with advance notice.

Teleconference meetings are sometimes held to allow board members and the public to attend remotely. Public access to these meetings is maintained, except during executive sessions, which are closed by law.

Recording Policy

Individuals may record public meetings, provided that recording equipment does not obstruct views or disrupt proceedings. Please notify the board president or superintendent if you plan to record before the meeting begins.

Ways to Get Involved

The Board values community engagement and input from families, staff and residents. You can:

  • Attend regular meetings.
  • Participate in public comment sessions.
  • Contact a board member or the superintendent.
  • Review district policies and updates online.

We believe that partnering with families, staff and the community is essential to  helping our students succeed.
