At Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Schools, we believe that strong family involvement is essential to student success. We are committed to building meaningful partnerships with parents, guardians, and the community to support our students' academic and personal growth.

Ways Families Can Get Involved

We offer various opportunities for parents and guardians to engage in their child’s education:

  • Parent/Guardian Committees: Join the Wakpa Waste’ Tiospaye Committee (Parent Involvement Committee) or the Parent Advisory Committee to provide input on school programs, review student data and support academic achievement.
  • Family Events: Participate in Academic Family Nights, Technology Family Night and Parent-Teacher Conferences to stay informed about your child's learning experience.
  • Volunteer Opportunities: Assist as classroom helpers, chaperones for events or serve as guest speakers to share knowledge and experiences with students.
  • School Decision-Making: Attend school review meetings and participate in discussions about school improvements and program changes.
  • Parent Forums: Engage in fall, winter and spring Parent/Guardian Forums to stay updated on federal programs and school policies.

Communication and Support

We are dedicated to keeping families informed and involved through various communication channels:

  • Regular Updates: Parents and guardians receive frequent updates through newsletters, progress reports, report cards and direct communication with teachers.
  • Access to Teachers and Staff: Families are encouraged to contact staff for consultations and support. School leaders and teachers are available to discuss student progress and address concerns.
  • State Assessments & Academic Standards: Information about curriculum, assessments and student proficiency levels is shared through open house events and progress reports.
  • Parent/Guardian Portal: Our online parent portal allows you to stay connected with your child’s progress and attendance.

Supporting Student Success Together

At Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Schools, we recognize that education is a shared responsibility. Families play a vital role in their child's learning by:

  • Ensuring regular school attendance and timely arrival.
  • Encouraging and assisting with homework.
  • Reading with their child daily.
  • Engaging in discussions about school and academic goals.
  • Participating in school events and committees.

Special Support for Families

We provide assistance to ensure all parents and guardians can participate, including:

  • Translation Services: School information is available in alternative formats upon request.
  • Support for Migratory Families and Families with Disabilities: We provide resources to ensure full participation in school activities.
  • Collaboration with Community Programs: We work with Head Start, the Infant & Toddler Program, TRIO and other organizations to support student transitions and success.
